«Snowboarding» – turn after turn

A snowboarder drops low into the turn, one arm stretched wide for balance, carving a line through the powder. No stopping, no hesitating, just the next turn. «Snowboarding» is built on exactly that momentum. Calf and edge are the same curve. That's our StrichKunst: motifs drawn in a single continuous line. We laser them finely into solid oak or walnut. A wonderful gift for anyone who'd rather ride straight from one turn into the next.

Every board is engraved one at a time in our studio in Baden.

Would you like a name or a date added? We'll gladly engrave it as a personalisation (+29 CHF) and place it to suit the motif.

Built for everyday use, and lovely with it

  • Non-slip rubber feet: 4 small feet underneath keep your board exactly where you want it while you chop.
  • Kind to your knives: solid wood is far gentler on your blades than plastic or stone.
  • Every board is one of a kind: light oak or dark walnut, the grain and colour differ from board to board.
  • Meant to be used: we engrave deeply enough that surface scratches don't touch the line. And every cut adds a little patina to your board.

Design and making

Reana drew the «Snowboarding» motif in one single, continuous line. The board itself we designed in Baden and have made from solid wood at the supported workshop Ekkharthof in Lengwil TG, from one piece or several.

Where does the wood come from?

The oak comes from the Lake Constance region, within 50 km of Kreuzlingen. The untreated walnut comes from the USA. Both are from sustainable forestry.

Care and cleaning

  • After use, wash by hand with warm water and a mild washing-up liquid
  • Dry it well straight away, don't leave it standing to dry
  • Never in the dishwasher!
  • Every 2 to 3 months, rub it with a food-safe oil (linseed oil, for instance)

Tip: oiling it regularly keeps the wood supple and water-repellent, and prevents cracks.

Frequently asked questions

Which size should I choose?

Size S (30x20 cm) is perfect for breakfast, cheese, serving at an apéro or for a smaller kitchen. Size M (39x24 cm) is better for cooking, chopping vegetables and larger quantities.

Can I chop on the motif?

Yes, absolutely. We engrave deeply enough that surface scratches don't touch the line. And every cut adds a little patina to your board, so over time you become part of its story yourself.

Can I have a name engraved as well?

Yes, gladly! The «Snowboarding» motif is already engraved. A name or a date on top of that we add as a personalisation (+29 CHF), placed to suit the motif. If the motif sits on the right, we engrave on the left, if it sits in the middle, your text goes in the top right. For larger quantities or corporate gifts we'll happily put together a quote.

Is the board dishwasher-safe?

No, please wash it by hand only, with warm water and a mild washing-up liquid. The dishwasher damages the wood and shortens its life.

Oak: from sustainable forestry, the Lake Constance region within 50 km of Kreuzlingen. Walnut: from the USA, likewise from sustainable forestry.

Wood care instructions

Care instructions for wooden products

This is how your wooden product stays beautiful for a long time:

  1. Water is taboo – water is, next to fire, the biggest enemy of wood. Please always wash by hand, dry immediately and never put in the dishwasher.
  2. Oils for protection – Food-grade oils such as linseed oil, sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, etc. are easy to apply. They offer protection but need a few days to fully harden, so oil them and let them sit for a while.
  3. Constant humidity – Make sure the humidity remains constant, this will help the wood maintain its shape and stability.
  4. Even exposure to light – Expose the wood to sun and light evenly to avoid unwanted color differences.
  5. Wood wax for shine – A little wood wax makes the wood shine, but offers no protection against water.
  6. Avoid extreme temperature changes – Be careful not to expose the wood to extreme temperature changes to avoid cracking and warping.

Longer delivery time for larger quantities:

Unless a different delivery time is stated in the item description, delivery takes 3–6 business days within Switzerland and Liechtenstein. No deliveries are made on Sundays and public holidays.
