From "I don't know what I'm going to be" to an international sweets brand: Ask Mummy & Daddy is Kane's brand – founded out of courage, ambition, and a very honest childhood memory: "Ask mummy & daddy for pocket money to buy sweets."

Ask Mummy & Daddy Story

Kane left school at 16 – without GCSEs, with dyslexia, and feeling "behind" compared to his peers. What he did have: grit, personality, and a strong will to build something of his own. His first big step: an admin/junior job at Cath Kidston (then still small) – and that turned into over 10 years in various areas such as marketing, visual merchandising, events, and more. Kane experienced firsthand how a brand grew from 2 shops to over 100 worldwide – including a learning curve, mistakes, and a lot of experience.

After a travel break, he moved on to the Biscuiteers Baking Company – an up-and-coming baking and chocolate brand. There, Kane worked as Operations Manager and contributed his retail and brand experience. But in the back of his mind, it was already clear: he wanted something of his own.

The name? Came from his dad. Because as a child, Kane seemed to constantly ask for pocket money to buy sweets: "Ask Mummy & Daddy". A name that everyone understands – and that conveys exactly that playful, nostalgic joy.

The big breakthrough happened in a way you rarely learn at school: Kane simply called Selfridges. Cold. Without contacts, without insider knowledge – just with drive, honesty, and belief in the product. He actually got an appointment with the Confectionery Buyer – and shortly thereafter, the first order. Surreal? Quite.

Today, Ask Mummy & Daddy is no longer "Kane's bedroom project," but a brand that is in leading stores in the UK – and has now also opened doors in Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. And the goal remains: not to stand still. But to constantly develop new creations, deliver great flavors, make gifts for every occasion – and push boundaries.
