Description

Every slamming door deserves a rope wedge. This one comes with a story: the wood is an offcut from the joinery, and the rope is a retired climbing rope from a neighbouring rope maker.

A second life for wood and rope

Each wedge is cut from a single piece of Swiss reclaimed wood, oiled and fitted with a retired climbing rope – the ropes no longer meet climbing standards, but they hold any door. That is why every rope wedge looks different: wood type and rope colour come as they come. They are made in the joinery of the Gärtnerhaus foundation, where people with mental health conditions work.

We use the small one for the children’s room and the medium one for the heavy front door – and the rope makes it easy to pull back up.

Good to know

  • Assorted: wood type and rope colour are random – you get what you get. The pictures show examples.
  • Small: approx. 4 × 13 × 2 cm, approx. 60 g (without rope)
  • Medium: approx. 15 × 5 × 3 cm, approx. 120 g (without rope)
  • Swiss reclaimed wood from their own joinery, oiled
  • Rope: retired climbing rope
  • Made in Switzerland by the Gärtnerhaus foundation
