Wooden cutting board S with "Marmot" motif from our Homesickness line

The board features our wonderful "Marmot" motif, one of four lovingly drawn designs from Swiss culture.

Whether as a gift for friends and family or as a special piece for your home, this cutting board brings a touch of Swiss home to the table.

The motif «Marmot»

A marmot, affectionately known in Switzerland The marmot, nicknamed "Murmeli," sits watchfully in the alpine landscape. With its quick eyes and thick fur, it enjoys the warm sun and the peaceful silence of the mountains. The "Murmeli" motif perfectly captures the tranquility and serenity of this small inhabitant of the Swiss Alps.

Homesickness Line

The Homesickness line combines the motifs "Marmot", "Ibex", "Alphorn" and "Alpine ascent" – each a small design piece drawn in a single line.

Reana, our designer, says: "There are times when we long for places where we can let our soul unwind. Often precisely when we can't just drop everything and leave it at that."

These places don't have to be far away, but far enough away to escape everyday life and pursue one's passions.

Our "Homesickness & Wanderlust" collection is built precisely on this feeling. Whether we're longing for a stroll on the beach, a bike tour in the mountains, or a hike for two – we've captured these different desires on local wood.

Perhaps we are far away and homesick for the mountains. The Homesickness Line brings us a good deal closer to these beautiful moments as well, thus fueling the anticipation for the next experience .

Cutting board with rubber feet for a perfect grip

The cutting boards have four rubber feet on the underside. This prevents the board from slipping while cutting and keeps it exactly where you want it.

Even more personal with a laser engraving

We'll gladly laser-engrave your desired text on the top right side. Perfect as a personalized gift, for example, for birthdays, weddings, as an employee gift, or for your customers. (If you'd like to have a logo or your own design laser-engraved and/or larger quantities, please contact us for a customized quote.)

Design & Manufacturing

Our cutting board was designed by Reana Hostettler-Durrer from Baden and is lovingly handcrafted in the Ekkharthof workshop in Lengwil TG, Switzerland. It is always made from solid wood, either from a single piece or multiple pieces.

Wood origin

We use oak wood sourced from within a 50 km radius of Lake Constance. The untreated walnut wood comes from the USA. All wood types are from sustainable forestry.

Care instructions for wooden products

This is how your wooden product stays beautiful for a long time:

  1. Water is taboo – water is, next to fire, the biggest enemy of wood. Please always wash by hand, dry immediately and never put in the dishwasher.
  2. Oils for protection – Food-grade oils such as linseed oil, sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, etc. are easy to apply. They offer protection but need a few days to fully harden, so oil them and let them sit for a while.
  3. Constant humidity – Make sure the humidity remains constant, this will help the wood maintain its shape and stability.
  4. Even exposure to light – Expose the wood to sun and light evenly to avoid unwanted color differences.
  5. Wood wax for shine – A little wood wax makes the wood shine, but offers no protection against water.
  6. Avoid extreme temperature changes – Be careful not to expose the wood to extreme temperature changes to avoid cracking and warping.

With these tips, you can enjoy your wooden product for a long time. Have fun with it!
