Inspiration for the flower animal motif

Reana Hostettler: Bonita came to Erika Herzig from a Spanish animal shelter over 17 years ago – and not only enriched her life, but also touched many others. She was a special person who will not soon be forgotten: proud, attentive, independent, and at the same time deeply connected to the people around her.

Tabby cats like Bonita are considered curious, adventurous, and independent—traits she embodied with great dignity. The yellow iris on her head is not only one of my favorite flowers, but also a powerful symbol: It represents friendship, wisdom, messages, and deep relationships. In Greek mythology, the goddess Iris was the messenger between heaven and earth—and somehow that fits Bonita.

For me, this motif is a silent remembrance of a wonderful animal that lives on – in memory and now also as part of my flower animal collection.
