Inspiration for the Blumentiere motif (flower animal)
Reana: Herr Schüch was a dachshund from my childhood neighbourhood – rather quiet, but always present. There was something very gentle about him, something reserved, that has stayed with me to this day.
The sprig of mistletoe on his head suits him perfectly, I think: in old traditions, mistletoe was seen as a symbol of protection, magic – and, not least, love. Two people who meet under a sprig of mistletoe are allowed to kiss – a lovely thought that pairs romance with a wink.
With this motif, I wanted to set a small monument to Herr Schüch – and to all those creatures who touch us quietly but lastingly.
